Simulation & Programming Manager - School of Continuing Studies

Requirements

This is an academic support position in which the Simulation Manager is responsible for designing and running a simulation for up to 100 students in the Foreign Policy and Economics Policy Academies. The ideal applicant is energetic and enthusiastic about learning through academic enrichment and able to design and manage a large-scale student experience.

Responsibilities:

Program Development
  • Designing and planning a simulation with guidance from the Academic Director (AD)
  • Learning about and understanding the program to better support the student experience
  • Preparing, organizing, and managing any pre-simulation materials that must be distributed to program staff or students


Program Management
  • Facilitating a simulation for up to 100 high school age students
  • Creating a safe and supportive academic environment for students
  • Building community and belonging amongst the students and staff
  • Establishing appropriate boundaries with students in compliance with the University's Protection of Minors Policy
  • Reporting unsafe, inappropriate, or concerning behavior and student conduct issues
  • Enforcing University policies, procedures, and regulations to students
  • Notifying the program's AAD of any student emergencies


Schedule:
  • Training Part I (Online) | May 19, 2025
  • Training Part II | June 2 - 6, 2025 or June 16 - 20, 2025
  • Foreign Policy Academy | June 30 - July 18, 2025
  • Economics Policy Academy | June 30 - July 18, 2025


Terms:
  • The Simulation Manager is designated for the summer 2025 term with dates of employment from May 19 through August 9, 2025.
  • The Simulation Manager will work approximately 10-20 hours per week before programming starts.
  • The Simulation Manager will work approximately 20-30 hours per week during the programs.
  • The Simulation Manager is allowed to enroll in Summer Session classes if they are not working in another Summer Staff position (Mentor or AAD) during the summer.
  • The Simulation Manager may work remotely or work in our office to prepare.
  • Housing will be provided to the Simulation Manager if they are working in another Summer Staff position (Mentor or AAD) during the summer.
  • A meal plan will be provided to the Simulation Manager if they are working in another Summer Staff position (Mentor or AAD) during the summer.
  • Employment with the University is at-will and may be terminated by the Simulation Manager or the University at any time without notice or cause. Employment with the University should not be considered as an implied or explicit guarantee of employment or as a personal contract.
  • Failure to meet the standards and expectations of the University, the School of Continuing Studies, and the Office of Summer and Special Programs, may result in termination.
  • Compensation will include $17.95 per hour for up to 40 hours of work per week.


Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Current or graduating undergraduate or graduate student
  • Experience working with high school students and faculty
  • Experience with Model UN or National Museum of American Diplomacy simulations
  • Supervisory and/or leadership experience
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Google Suite, Zoom, and Canvas learning management system (LMS)


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Current or graduating GU student
  • Institutional knowledge of Georgetown University
  • Undergraduate or high school teaching experience
  • Knowledge or experience relating to the Academy subject matter is a plus
